Due to inclement weather conditions this week, and the safety and logistics involved in event organization and transportation, it has been decided that the LME SCIENCE FAIR 2018 will be postponed until Thursday, January 25th.
Please look for further details regarding set up and judging in the next few days.
Thank you for your understanding.
LME Science Fair Committee

Laurel Mountain will hold our school's Science Fair this year on January 25, 2018. All students in grades Kinder-5th grade are encouraged to participate. Students can do one of the following for the Science Fair:
  • Experiment using the steps of the scientific method to answer a question to which you do not know the answer without testing.
  • Display to show how or why something works the way it does.
We need volunteers to help out at this year's Science Fair. If you would like to join us please sign up here

5th grade participants can only do an experiment, not a display. It is recommended that 4th grade participants do an experiment.

Science Fair participants will be provided with a display board for use at the Science Fair. All research and work on science fair projects is done at home with parent supervision.

Students can do an individual project or group project (no more than 2 members/group). Please remind your child of these rules:
  • Projects that involve growing any mold or bacteria are NOT ALLOWED.
  • Human or animal food is NOT ALLOWED on the project board or display area (including sealed bags and containers)

What is Science Fair?
Science Fair is an opportunity for students to apply the scientific method to conduct independent research at home. The results of each student's research is presented in a school wide science fair where the student's efforts are displayed and where students are interviewed to determine scientific merit. Students who have been judged to have used the scientific method properly and who have demonstrated thoroughness in their studies and effort are awarded prizes and our top winners in grades 3-5 are advanced to compete in the Austin Regional Science Fair.
